The attributes below were actually attributed to the local church but, as you can see, these attributes are not just true of the broader local church but also of sports ministries as well.
When you see a graph like the one below, you should ask yourself: How can the sports ministry I lead be a solution to one or more of these problems in my church? You should also take a good look at your ministry and see if these attributes are causing your specific ministry problems as well. Chances are, if they are a problem for the broader church, they are a problem for your ministry too.
In our experience in working with churches, we would say the first two attributes listed: “Lack of Mission and Vision clarity” and “Failure to define a concise strategy…” are significant problems in sports ministries. With a new year upon us, perhaps this is a time to focus in on these two problems.
