The mission of CSO is to redeem the idol of sports and those who play them by leading a global movement of gospel-centered sports ministries in local churches. With that mission, the issue of redeeming sports is critical to us. Also critical is the spreading to and fulfillment by others of this vision.
As we have tried to share this vision, one thing that becomes clear is the confusion about what it means to redeem sport. If you question that idea, try for yourselves. Ask the question, “What does it mean to redeem sports?” and see if you don’t hear all kinds of answers and also get some blank stares. Yet, if we are going to fulfill our mission, we must be able to cast a clear and compelling vision for this redemption.
Recently, we addressed this question in our regular monthly webinars that we partner with CSRM to host. Greg Linville, Executive Director of CSRM, Steve Quatro, Executive Director of SOLA and Teacher at Azuza Pacific University, and myself waded in on this subject. The video of that webinar is below.
