I came across this article today about a church taking over a recreation center in San Angelo, TX because of a budget shortfall. What a great ministry opportunity for this church! Not only will this church provide a great service to its community, it not also such a mission field to do ministry. Here’s an excerpt from the article:
The biggest component of the proposal is a partnership agreement with the Boys and Girls Club to run an after-school program and summer camp out of the center rent-free. PaulAnn’s Executive Pastor Phil Todd said the club will begin offering after-school programming in January when school starts after the holiday break.
The proposal also includes a partnership with Upward Sports, a national sports program for children that operates football and basketball leagues, and church programming, including church services with child care, counseling, open gym time and health education and screenings.
