I have some bittersweet news to report: I have a new job and will be leaving Church Sports Outreach (CSO). I have accepted a job at Church at Charlotte (my current church) as Creative Media Pastor.
I’m obviously very excited about my new job. For the past three years or so, I have felt God calling me toward pastoral ministry and I really couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity. It was quite humbling to receive this affirmation and position from my home church.
At the same time, it is sad for me to leave CSO. I’ve invested 6 years of my life into the ministry and have made great relationships here. The people of CSO have been integral to my development in ministry, my development as a leader, and my development as a follower of Christ. The good news is that I won’t be moving and will be able to stay connected to the people as well as continue to stay involved in the
ministry as a volunteer.
I humbled to be leaving CSO at a time of great growth and anticipation. God has blessed this ministry with a great amount of influence in the kingdom and I’m glad I was able to play a small part in that.
So, what does this mean for the CSO Blog in the future?
Thankfully, the blog will continue pumping out quality content. Bob Schindler, a gifted writer and speaker, is committing to writing more content and is assembling a team
of other skilled writers to continue the consistent and quality blog content. And, from time to time, I will continue to make some blog cameos with new posts (I know I said this is my last post but perhaps I should have said this is one of my last blog posts). If you’re interested in becoming a guest contributor for the CSO Blog, please email Bob Schindler at bschindler@csosports.org.
My first post on the blog was October 5th, 2009. In some ways, it was only 4 years ago. In other ways, it was a lifetime ago. Back then, “bloggers” were middle-aged geeks who still lived in their parent’s basement. Now…well, maybe they are still middle-aged geeks living in their parent’s basement…but it’s much more mainstream! 836 blog posts later, I can confidently say this blog has done two things well:
1. Connect those looking for information about local church sports ministry to a place where they can find help.
2. Become a stimulating and catalytic place where the intersection of sports and faith is discussed.
Thank you for being a part of this community and readership. Please continue to frequent this blog and support this ministry.
