I wrote back in September about recently deceased Kenny McKinley and the idol he seemingly made out of football. It seemed as if Kenny found his identity in who he was as a football player and struggled with not being able to play.
Josh Hamilton, the recent American League MVP and devout Christian, seems to have a healthy outlook on his identity. Hamilton has had a highly publicized conversion to Christianity in the last few years following years of alcohol and drug addiction. I recently stumbled across this article and it’s a good read. If you know anything about Josh Hamilton, not much of this article is new but coming off an MVP season like he did–it’s refreshing to hear. Here are some excerpts:
