I am thinking about my personal experience as an intern with CSO while now being on the other side of the training process with two interns, Chris and Joy, that are coming through the ranks of CSO at Christ Covenant with the ministry of SOAR. My experience began all most 5 years ago. It seems sometimes distant, yet feels so close to home. Memories that flood my mind like class discussions on the leadership lessons Christ taught us, relationally reaching out to those around us who may not be churched, understanding what playing with all of your heart means, mentoring at Starbucks with my beloved friends and mentor, weekly I-77 road trips to Columbia, SC for my in the field experience at a local church, two other local church experiences in Rock Hill, SC and Matthews, NC, CSO Golf Tournaments, and completing the courses of CSO. The things I just described may not mean much for you, but man brings a smile, laughter, tears, and love to the my heart. My internship was life transforming and will not forget how I got to where I am today. The experiences I had through my internship remind me of the process and journey we go through in life to go where the Lord leads us. The two interns I mentioned earlier are experiencing that each day and trusting that the Lord will lead and guide them in the experience He has for them. They are currently interning with Christ Covenant through SOAR Sports where I am on staff full time. I now get the joy and pleasure to see lives be transformed through the internship process and can help share and train in sports outreach ministry. The path through dabbling in sports outreach ministry for both of them will lead to where the Lord wants them to go. I pray for Chris and Joy as they continue to be challenged, grow, learn, and put into practice all that they are learning through their experiences. May you never forget the journey the Lord has you on!
My suggestion would be to think back when you first started in sports ministry to recall those experiences you had and how you maybe can encourage someone in their journey. What a blessing it is to see the small ways God provides for us daily and how He deserves to receive the Glory.
