This is one of the more bizarre Broken Sports I’ve linked to. The brokenness here is layered: First, you have the, presumably drunk, shirtless guy wandering around on the field. Why? Who knows. Whatever the reason, it’s broken. Secondly, the most egregious event is the way the dads beat up this guy unnecessarily…and the crowd cheers it! Something had to be done with this guy but he never appeared hostile. The way he was treated you would have thought he was an armed terrorist. Bob Schindler watched the video and this was his response: “Sad..The vehemence with which those guys go after the dude is such an example of repressed anger that seems so present today.” Agreed.

Dad tackles shirtless guy at HS football game
A shirtless man wandered onto the field at a Sacramento area high school football game this weekend. We can’t speak to his motives, but he was shirtless, dazed, wearing a belt that wasn’t looped onto his pants and threw the contents of a water bottle at an official. You can fill in the dots.
His time on the field lasted until a father of a player approached him from behind and brought him down with a textbook open-field tackle. The intruder was subdued and later arrested.
