At least 2 dozen adults were involved in a brawl after a baseball game involving 10 year olds in Greenley, CO. USA Today reports more on this story in this video.
As I listened to the report, what struck me more than anything was that I wasn’t surprised. Sports are broken. Every sport. At every level.
This story is just one more reminder of this brokenness.
One other aspect of the story struck me – the reporter mentioned that the 10 year old players were standing
around crying as they watched the brawl unfold.
Brokenness has a very human impact.
These young men will carry that negative memory for a long. That memory will color the way they look at baseball. It may impact them even further.
We share these kinds of stories for a reason. Information leads to concern. Concern leads to longing for solutions.
We are convinced that the more we are troubled by this brokenness, the greater we long for a remedy.
Therefore, we keep reminding ourselves and you so our longing stays intense.
Something needs to happen to reverse this brokenness and the impact it has – on every sport, at every level.
Would you join us at CSO (here is our mission) in our cry to God for the redemption of sports?
