Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, TN

Participants joined in corporate worship, heard speakers who challenged them from scripture and personal experience, participated in workshops in fourteen different tracks, and joined in panel discussions. Some of the track topics included age and individual sport specific issues, international sports ministry, leadership, and personal development. Bob Schindler and Jeff Fox taught in the Gospel Centered Sports track on these topics, “What is Gospel Centered Sports Ministry- What is it and How Do I Get There? “What Difference Should Being Truly Gospel-Centered Make in Our Leadership and Sports Ministry?”, and “Injection vs. Integration -3D Integrated Devotions.” (continue)

CSO Staff: Ken Cross

Ken Cross, Director of Training for the Sports Chaplains Network (SCN), one of the two “passions” of the Sports Outreach Group (SOG), recently began investing some of his time with CSO, the other “passion” of the SOG.

Ken works with Bob Schindler and Jeff Fox in recruiting new churches to the CSO Network and servicing current CSO Network members, including ongoing involvement in CSO’s Learning Communities. CSO also benefits from Ken’s expertise to sharpen our ministry message and the ministry tools in our toolbox. (continue)

Istrouma’s Lunch Bunch Basketball

How do you bring together African-American and Caucasian adult men in a racially challenged city like Baton Rouge? The answer – Lunch Bunch Basketball (LBB).

Lunch Bunch Basketball didn’t begin with this reconciliation in mind. The idea began very humbly as pick-up basketball for church members on Wednesday nights before ML Woodruff, the Sports Outreach Minister at Istrouma Baptist Church (IBC) joined the staff and connected with CSO. (continue)
