In church last Sunday we were singing a song that kept repeating the line, “Nothing is impossible with you God” and it really got me thinking. Do I truly believe that? I started applying it to my life and really questioning if I lived it. There is so much truth to it yet a lot of the times we hesitate to trust it.
In your ministry or business, you can be one of two things: a dream maker or a dream breaker. A dream breaker is the type of leader who is just happy with where they and there team are at, settles for just making sure things get done in there ministry, doesn’t really welcome too many ideas from others because they are afraid of change, and are just kind of satisfied with their ministry. A dream maker is someone who challenges their team to dream big and bring those dreams to the table, who trusts their team, who always wants to move forward, who isn’t ever happy with where they are at as a ministry, who is open to change, who truly trusts that with God anything is possible, and who cares more about their team then themselves.
When you look at these two different types of people, probably 100% of us would like to say we fall in the dream maker category. It’s time that we have to be honest with ourselves and find out where we really stand. Reading through the book of acts (and almost all of Paul’s books) he mentions a number of times that God has called him to encourage others. As leaders, we are all called to encourage others, whether it is our ministry teams, our friends, our families, or even our enemies. Encouraging others and letting them know that you believe in them can really go a long way. Many people, including people on your teams, have big dreams. We need to encourage our team to bring those dreams to the table and when they do, encourage them or help them to go after those dreams. We need to understand that nothing is impossible with God and realize that someone’s dream might be exactly what God wants you to pursue in order for Him to help you take your ministry to the next level. We can’t be afraid of change because God sees every change as potential. Let’s start changing the way we view our ministry into the way God views it.
So I challenge you, as a leader, think about if you are a dream maker or dream breaker. What happens if we go after a dream and it fails? We’re right back where we started? What happens if it succeeds? We could possibly take our ministry to a level we had never imagined it would be! Luke 1:37: For nothing is impossible with God.
