A while ago there was a short post about Fantasy Sports and the opportunities that might be there for ministry.
“I recently read where 11% of the U.S. population plays one or more fantasy sports per year. Additionally, 22% of males between the ages of 18-49 play fantasy sports. Looks like fertile grounds for ministry to me.”
These may be old statistics as it has only gone up in more recent years. According to this article, over 20% of America’s population enrolled in fantasy sports last year.
So, what does this mean?
Recently in the news, Virginia became the first state to make it legal. What about this?
People have opinions ranging from “This is the worst,” to “Yes, finally. Now I can have fun.” It is interesting that both are completely void of God.
On that note, can we so easily just take God out of anything? Well, we sure think we can with what we say. No matter what is going on, trying to kick God out from some area or topic in this world is as difficult as..trying to guess the perfect bracket for March Madness including all final scores of each game.
The solution and the challenge that we have to face is not a a very complex one. All we need to do is Trust God. Just like we Trust Him (without even acknowledging it) that He’ll continue to give us breath.
That’s of course regardless of the fact that He continues to do so, even though we didn’t ask Him to, and even when we didn’t earn it. He could take it away from us whenever.
So, here’s a case where we do just that. Trust Him that this is His will, His plan.
Is it just possible that God could be up to something to further His Kingdom by allowing the popularity of fantasy sports to grow? (Matthew 19:26)
