From the Exponential blog:
I know the church is described as a “body” in Scripture, but allow me to use the metaphor of the church as a factory for a moment.
If the church was a factory what would we be producing? We can agree that the biblical goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:16-20). What if our factory was not properly set up to make disciples? What if the assembly line was rigged to make a different product?
Apply this metaphor to your sports ministry and ask: What is your ministry producing?
Is it producing disciples who make disciples? Is it producing a hunger among non-believers to know more about God? Is it producing transformational relationships between believers and non-believers? Is it producing Christians who are seeing growth in the way they coach, play, and spectate for the glory of God?
If not those things above, what is it producing? The product of your ministry is the result of your effort and strategy. If you’re not producing what you want to produce, then the strategy must change.
