Yet another story of where sports has gone wrong. I came across this below quote from Time magazine and then searched for the story, which you can read here. There’s even a video of the incident taking place. Really, really sad.
“I was not trying to hurt the owl. I did it to see if it would fly.”
–Luis Moreno, soccer player in Colombia, apologizing after kicking the mascot of a rival team when it flew onto the middle of a match; the owl died, having reportedly gone into shock after it was taken in for treatment.
