Several years ago there were a few things written with the theme: “Tyranny of the Urgent.”
And in 2016, who does not relate to that theme? This topic discusses the fact that many people cannot accomplish the “important” things because their time is dominated by the time, pressure, or urgency of the day-to-day detail.
WOW! I don’t know about you but for me this is one of my greatest life struggles. Today’s culture has pushed people to perform, perform, perform. And even though I understand “Quality does not equal quantity,” I chose to offer quantity (a multitude of programs) and it wasn’t long before I was absorbed in the Tyranny of the Urgent!
Being involved in Sports Outreach is one of the greatest rewards of my life. And as I step back and look at my involvement I recognize the importance of focus. Scripture has some wonderful instruction for all of us…
“Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead…” (Philippians 3:13)
Whatever I have done in the past…reach forward! I believe God demands quality in our efforts and an intentional witness in the process.
