This past blog post caught my eye because of its honesty and how it rung so true. Sports do hold great power. Some of it is so strong, it can bring down even the strongest.
I hope you catch on to the fact I’m addressing multiple personalities and fields here. The toughest athlete physically can certainly be beaten down by sports and the wear and tear of what sports can do on the body. The best marketer for a team can definitely be outsmarted by somebody smarter. The greatest coach who plans and strategizes for his team could still lose to somebody who did it better.
Sports attract anybody and everybody. It gets dangerous when we start to give them power over our lives. The following is a quote from the above post:
“We can look at so many life examples of how sports hold real power over the world. For example, how many of us plan our day around a [Panthers] game…umm…I mean a football game, or a baseball game, or NASCAR race, or golf tournament, or basketball game…
The list goes on and on and on. Sports have amazing power. So, how do we harness the power of sports?“
That’s the question.
The answer must be: Sports Ministry. It’s seeing how we could/can be used with the Lord leading. After all, He’s been here since before the beginning. Why try to keep Him out of a universal language that He knows better than anybody simply because He Knows and created us all?
