As the NFL draft approaches, the most talked about topic of the media is Tim Tebow. “Where will Tim Tebow be drafted?” Will he be drafted as a QB? What is his long term position in the NFL?” These are among the long list of questions asked and answered by the professionals. Here is what the professionals are saying: According to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, he could “revolutionize” the pro game. Says Gruden, “Tim Tebow is 250 pounds, and he’s the strongest human being that’s ever played the position. He can throw well enough at any level.” Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he would pick Tebow with a top 10 pick, and would take him over any quarterback in the 2010 draft. On the other hand, NFL analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. believes Tebow does not have the intangibles to play quarterback in the NFL. “I don’t think he can be a fulltime quarterback. I don’t think he can be the quarterback of the future for you, but I do think in the third round, maybe the second round, he’ll be the same as Pat White,” said Kiper. Here’s what his teammate Louis Murphy says about Tebow. “He’s caring and loving. Anything you want from him, you can ask and he’ll help you out.”
My admiration for Tebow goes way off the football field. At age 15, he started to travel with his father on missions’ trips and nervously sharing the gospel with thousands of high school students. He seems to have two passions, Jesus and football; but has found ways to make sure people understand his passion for Jesus is stronger than his passion for football. For example, his highly controversial TV commercial about abortion during the Super Bowl (but no one watched that).
I understand this is a blog, so I’m free to share my opinion. First off, let me say I am in no way a Gators fan, but I am a huge college football fan! Second, if I were a GM in need of a QB/team leader, I would take Tebow as the #1 QB. I hope the Carolina Panthers finally do something right and select Tebow. He would be great for the city! He’s going to be great for the NFL!
Just my 2 cents!
